Amtrak FY06: Ridership, Revenues Up

Amtrak logo Speaking of Amtrak, they reported their fiscal year 2006 numbers today. Revenues were $1.37 billion — up $132 million, or 11 per cent, over fiscal 2005; ridership was up 300,000, or one per cent, to 24.3 million. Acela ridership and revenues were up, perennial sick man Sunset Limited was down sharply. By route category: Northeast Corridor down 1.6 per cent in ridership (mostly due to special trains) and up 12.3 per cent in revenue; short-distance intercity up 4.5 per cent in ridership and 11.9 per cent in revenue; long-distance intercity down 1.3 per cent in ridership and up 6.6 per cent in revenue.
