12 Railroad Blogs
Marcel has the best blogroll, where I discover the following blogs about trains, most with a fairly specific focus:
- Alta Velocidad Ferroviaria is a Spanish-language blog about high-speed rail.
- Amtrak Tracking for My Commute Between New York City and Philadelphia‘s title is self-explanatory — it started as a way of tracking Amtrak’s on-time performance — but has latterly morphed into a blog on general Amtrak news. The reason? “I no longer commute from Philly to NYC. I have recently moved to Manhattan. At $1008/mo for a monthly pass it’s now cheaper to live in NYC than commute via Amtrak.” (The author is only slightly kidding.)
- Confessions of a Train Geek is a railfanning blog focusing on Atlantic Canada; some nice photos there.
- Erik’s Rail News — media stories about trains.
- Getting There engages in political advocacy.
- Los Angeles Transportation Headlines is compiled by Los Angeles County Metro’s Dorothy Peyton Gray Transportation Library and Archive.
- Riding the Rails, by Palm Beach Post reporter Tanya Wragg, chronicles her commutes on Tri-Rail; it ended last March.
- The Railfan hasn’t been updated since the summer; it seems to be based in the Midwest.
- Slow Train Comin’ is a New Zealander’s rail blog that often focuses on the shortcomings of Auckland’s commuter rail service.
- TGV Rhin-Rhône is about the TGV line under construction between Dijon and Mulhouse; in French.
- Ticket Punch is a passenger rail advocacy blog.
- Zug & Eisenbahn Blog is a rather laconic German-language blog, mostly, it appears, covering European railways.

Thanks for all the recent linking. I just found that I had never added you to my blogroll/reader – shame on me! So I went ahead and did that.
