Minimal Long-term Impact of Lake Wabamun Spill: Report

CN logo Speaking of CN accidents (as I am wont to do), a report commissioned by the railway into the Lake Wabamun accident, which dumped 1.3 million litres of fuel oil into the resort lake west of Edmonton Alberta in August 2005, concludes that the accident will not have any significant long-term effects on the lake’s wildlife (CBC News, Edmonton Journal). The thing is, the lake wasn’t in the best of health to begin with; the spill was simply one more straw (especially after cleanup efforts) rather than a cataclysm in and of itself.
