Parties and Police

It has been a busy weekend! We suddenly got social and went visiting on Saturday. A friend of mine from Cape Breton was having a house warming party in Ottawa on Saturday night and invited us along.

Because the housewarming party was in the evening, we decided to go into Ottawa early to visit with one of Jon's friends from university. I met Dave last June, but this was the first time either of us had met Rita, his wife. We walked down to Rideau Center along the canal. It was a really warm day so there were lots of skaters about. Winterlude was starting up so there were big crowds everywhere it seemed -- parking was certainly a problem at Dave's place.

We arrived a bit late at Dwayne's housewarming but the crowd was a lot of fun and, before we knew it, it was 11:30 -- and we still had an over an hour's drive back to Shawville!

On the way through Alymer, we get pulled over by the local police -- ack! Seems we had brake lights doing wonky things, like not turning off! They let us go with a warning to get it fixed within 30 days. Now we've got to call around and see which Mazda dealership can take us and how much this is going to cost! Jon's dad doesn't think it'll be too much; I hope he's right!
