Flash Earth

Flash Earth presents Google Maps and Virtual Earth satellite imagery through a Flash application. Why a Flash application, you may ask? The creator, Paul Neave, explains why:

[T]he interface is much smoother to use. You get a sense of location because you can zoom in and out without the display being recreated. And you can rotate the map, something almost impossible to do using HTML and JavaScript (or AJAX if you know your web jargon), but a piece of pee with Flash.

Some don’t see the point of this (peacay thinks it’s cumbersome); I think it’s a neat enough trick. The Flash source is available here (30 KB zip file).
