Mississippi Channel; New Orleans Flood Map

Over on GeoCarta, Roger goes beyond the latest satellite and aerial photography of New Orleans (which is what’s getting the lion’s share of attention); he looks at NOAA’s survey of the damage to the Mississippi River shipping channel and has posted a copy of FEMA’s flood map for New Orleans.

I am trying to find a map, similar to those done in gray graphics of the 9/11 damage. I especially remember a map of the pentagon that showed how far the plane went in through the rings. Imagine a map of Louisiana showing the width and depth (North, South, East and West) of the wind and water damage.

Connie, I’ll keep an eye out for something along those lines; it might take a while before the data is available to make such a map. (I removed your e-mail address; you’d get an awful lot of spam if it stayed on this page, believe me.)

I am trying to determine real status of our house—-first we were told it is under about 11 feet of water and then Friday we were told another levee broke on the lake and the house has now been swept away—-anyone heard anything about this. The house is/would have been on Athis street?

thanks!
