More New Orleans Satellite Photos

Orbimage’s satellite photos of New Orleans post-Katrina, here and here, are in black and white; as a result, the detail is much sharper and the flooded parts of the city are much more visible, as the example above (courtesy Orbimage) shows.

False-colour images can be more revealing than straight photography, too: Spot Image’s infrared photo of the city brings the flooded areas clearly into view, especially when compared with a similar 2001 photo.

Here is another map of the New Orleans flood. I did it to track the progress of the receding water. It’s a little easier to follow the flood area than some of the airphotos.

I am so sorry for all the people that had to go through this terrible time. We never know what will come our way and there is no way to prepare for something this terrible. My prayers go out to each and every one of you.

the best thing that we can do is say a prayer and donate our money and ourselves. My GOD be with you in the coming months.
