Kathryn Cramer reports that new Rita overlays for Google Earth based on updated NOAA imagery are now available.

Meanwhile, Wired carries an AP story about mapping the storm surge from Katrina: surveyors are trying to create an atlas of the storm surge, essentially, to prepare better for the next one.

I would like to see a map of the new coastline of Louisiana, and with overlays of previous mappings of it. The most recent one I have probably dates from before 1980.
