Speaking of fictional maps, there is a lot of mapping efforts going on at the online game world of warcraft. One very interesting piece of software is called “Cartographe” which is a mapping wiki. Everyone who uses the software is able to add annotations to an underlayed map, and change all the information on the map. This would be a very intersting tool for large cities where things change quite fast.
