Undersea Cable Maps

A collection of maps of undersea cables, beginning with Atlantic telegraph cable maps from 1858 and finishing with a world cable map from 1992. Most of the maps are older, though, and quite interesting. Via Things Magazine.

I wrote a blog post after a visit to Porthcurno beach in Cornwall, UK, where the Atlantic cable originally came ashore.

These are really, really gorgeous and *almost* perfect for simple printing from my home printer.

Great stuff. I love seeing these originals with contemporary images such as this one from the atlas of cyberspace.
