Tim’s page covers the steps involved in taking photos from a GPS-compatible digital camera (in this case, the droolworthy Nikon D200) and placing them on a Google Map; with source code (via Google Maps Mania). On the other hand, sure, you could add GPS to a camera, but you could also just add a camera to a GPS receiver (via MAKE: Blog).
