Google Maps Adds Traffic Conditions
Google Maps adds traffic conditions for 30 U.S. cities, appearing as another mode beside Map, Satellite and Hybrid: “If your route shows red, you’re looking at a stop-and-go commute; yellow, you could be a little late for dinner; green, you’ve got smooth sailing.”

Just a quick question. How does google gather and post up-to-date traffic information?

We’re not exactly sure, but in general Google acquires mapping data from specialized providers.

This is very interesting because if Google says there is a problem between 21st and 15th streets on the Broken Arrow expressway, I run into bumper to bumper traffic on my way to the office. I would love to know where they get their info.
