On FreeHand’s Demise and Cartography

Freehand box (thumbnail) I knew that Adobe was ending development on FreeHand; after its purchase of Macromedia, keeping both the competing FreeHand and Illustrator going made little sense. I should have realized that, like Illustrator, FreeHand has been used to draw maps — but if Edward and James are any indication, a lot of people may have already moved on to other programs.
