Al Franken, now the junior senator from Minnesota, has a hell of a party trick: he can draw, freehand and from memory, a map of the contiguous 48 states of the U.S. He’s been doing it for decades: Talking Points Memo and Cartophilia point to his 1987 appearance on Late Night with David Letterman, in which he does it in less than two minutes. The YouTube video is of poor quality, and the trick doesn’t start until six and a half minutes in, so as an alternative, here he is doing it at a fundraiser in 2007:
